Limited edition custom belt buckles

Sooner or later everybody in life is going to be faced with the simple fact, that somehow they are going to have to hold up their pantaloonies. Here at wyattlouisjane we came up with a solution. Keeping it simple and effective we’ve crafted some stainless plate, a couple of lengths of welding wire, and two five millimetre nuts, into the limited edition custom belt buckle. We didn’t reinvent the wheel by any stretch of the imagination but created a quality buckle, as you can see below, that will last the test of time.

It’s something that anyone with access to stainless steel and a limited knowledge of the fabrication trade can make themselves. In essence it’s a piece of 5mm stainless plate shaped as you can see above. This is our standard blank but of course you could craft any shape you like. Around the outside we’ve taken two lengths of stainless steel welding wire, held them in a vice, and with the other end, held them in the chuck of a battery drill and slowly wound them up. Then it’s just a matter of tack welding them around the side as again you can see above.

On the underside we’ve crafted a small piece of 6mm round bar to create the hook that links through the hole in your belt. Two 5mm nuts have been welded to the blank with another piece of about 3mm welding wire, as you can see in the photo above, and it’s ready to hold up your jeans.

Once you’ve got a blank you can become a little creative, if you’re so inclined, as we have done, and put pretty much whatever you want on the outside. Below are a couple we’ve made, one with the W L, and one with a snowboard.

The two in the photos above have been in use for about six or seven years now, and still look like the day they were made. Without a doubt I’d say they’ll long outlast the wearer.

Have a go at creating one, it’s fair to say if you do, you’ll never have to buy another buckle.
