Who We Are & What We Do

Fly fishes, Creators of the Twister MK III rotary fly tying vice, Custom knife makers, and out of necessity the makers of some of the tools we need to ply our craft, for example the 2 x 72 belt grinders.
Primarily we’re all about the fly-fishing, but of late we’ve added the making of custom knives and the tools we need to craft them, to the arsenal of things we do. To be honest the crafting of knives is more of a pursuit of a passion than anything else, and as with much in life as we evolve and grow, we find ourselves travelling a different path. A journey of just over 30 years has brought us to this fork in the road where we’ve decided to offer a selection of some of the blades we make and to see where this road may ultimately lead.
Of course we still have a passion for sharing all of what we do, like some of the incredible landscapes that surround us in this amazing part of the world.
Over 30 years of chasing trout in New Zealand’s majestic streams, rivers and lakes, has lead to the creation of this site. Not to mention the abundance of salmon in Mackenzie country canals.
The stunning South Canterbury of New Zealand, is where this site began and where we currently base our operations. Our location may change over time but our dedication to producing quality fly vises and knives will always stay the same.
Of course fly fishing will always be the core of who we are, but when it’s too cold to be standing in the snow feed rivers, the snowboard comes out and we head for the hills. But if truth be told not so much anymore as there’s always flies to tie, vises to make, and knives to be crafted.
