Products

What’s showcased below are some of the more common items we tend to create on a somewhat regular basis.  Bear in mind however that everything we do is hand crafted and therefore may differ slightly from what’s shown in the photos.

Knife handles and blade material for example can tend to vary depending on what can be sourced at the time.  And of course recycling is a bit part of what we do, if we can take a piece of scrap and produce something of value we will.  Having said this, we will always strive to produce the best quality product we can, and anything that’s not up to my exacting standards will be binned without hesitation.  We put everything we have into every item we make with the ultimate goal of it being a functional tool that will last.

As mentioned above each item is hand crafted and will therefore have a lead time which will vary.  Generally two to three weeks for a fly vise, three to four weeks for a knife if we have the material.

All this being the case, if you’re serious about making one of these items your own, please contact us and we’ll see what can be done.

The basic unit as shown to the left features tilting front platen, duel axial tracking, forward or reverse operation, variable speed, and also operates in the horizontal or vertical position.

Standard motor on this unit would be a 1.5kw (2hp) three phase, run through a single phase to three phase Vfd.

Normally selling for around $4500 New Zealand dollars, plus shipping if any.

“Twister MK III” rotary fly tying vise.

Shown to the left is the standard vise, mainly stainless steel construction with hardened and tempered spring steel jaws.  The base is 150mm x 100m but can be changed on request.  A cut out version of the base is also available, but at an additional cost.   You could also swap out the jaws with stainless steel if you wanted.

Normally sells for around $250 to $350 New Zealand dollars, plus shipping.

“Twister MK III” Tool holder.

The tool holder shown here, if my memory serves me correctly, is made of a nylon type material, but generally they’re made from aluminium.

Normally sells for around $80 New Zealand dollars, plus shipping, depending of material used.

Gallows Unit.

The gallows unit is an accessory you could easily make yourself.  Generally made from 3.2mm dia. tig welding wire.  Stainless Steel or aluminium, either works fine.  Bent to the right shape, it simply fits in place of the bobbin holder.  A spring glued to the hook on the end, a hair tie, a pair of hackle pliers and its done.

It is left or right handed so bear that in mind if you create one.

If you need more information about this accessory contact me.

Thread Carousel and Feather holder.

Thread carousel and feather holder is able to hold up to twelve thread bobbins on the rotating carousel and to the back is a place for holding long feathers such as pheasant tails.

Normally sells for around $100 New Zealand dollars, plus shipping, depending of material cost at the time.

The original “WyattLouisJane Mk I Hunter”

A simply fabricated hunting knife, made to meet a need.  Made from all recycled materials, a leftover piece of leaf spring, off cuts of wood, and whatever else I have to hand at the time.  No jigs are used on this blade at all, hand ground, hand sanded and no epoxy in the handle, except to fill holes due to the nature of the scales.  Truly an old school build in every sense of the word.  Thats how this design was born, and that’s how it shall live.

Blade is generally about 7″ to 8″ in length, 4mm to 5mm think, and is a hidden tang construction.  If this design is something you may like in your collection, contact me and we’ll go from there.

I’ll sell this design for around $300 to $400 New Zealand dollars.

BushCraft style general purpose fixed blade.

A general purpose everyday carry, fixed blade bush craft knife, is a great addition to anybody’s tool kit.  Full tang construction with a 4″ blade normally around 3.3mm in thickness.  The one on the left is fitted with Rimu handle scales but handles will vary depending on what we have available at the time.

We’ll normally sell one of these for around the $300 New Zealand mark.

I call this design a ” 6″ Drop Point Hunter”

But I guess you could call it anything you like.  It’s a pretty general-purpose hunting knife with a roundabout 6″ blade.  We make this design in full tang or hidden tang, and a 3..3mm or 4.5mm blade thickness, whichever is your flavour.  The sheath shown is a righthanded cross carry but that too can be changed on request.

Standard Design sells for around $350 New Zealand Dollars.

A single point leather crafting head knife.

A simple little version of a classic leather crafting head knife.  The one on the left has been used to make many a knife sheath and is still going strong.  Just over 5″ in total length and 3″ wide it fits nicely in the hand and is great to use, in my opinion anyway.

We’d make you one of these for around $250 New Zealand Dollars.

Mini Kitchen Knife.

This design we call the Mini Kitchen Knife.  8.5″ long with a 4″ blade.  The one on the left was made from an old thrown away saw blade.  What we’ve shown in the photo is the fist one of these we made as a trial.  And apart from the tube pins, which we now replace with solid pins, just for looks more than anything else, it’s works pretty well.  This knife now gets used on a daily basis in my own kitchen.

If it’s something that sparks your interest contact us.

“The Cooks Knife.”

The Cooks knife is a versatile 7″ bladed kitchen knife, great for all your slicing and dicing needs whether they be big or small.  I could have easily called this a Chiefs knife but I’m not a Chief so what do I know about that.  I do however need to cook from time to time and over the years have become very tired of blunt knives in my kitchen.  Hence I made this knife to solve said problem which it most definitely has done.  This one I made from 1084 high carbon steel and has developed a healthy patina just like the knives my grandparents used to have in their kitchens.

Interest is always welcomed

“Bbq Knife”

What we have here is a bit of a hybrid really.  Sort of halfway between the 7″ cooks knife and a cleaver.  Why I call it a Bbq knife I don’t really know, but it’s more than likely due to the fact that that’s where I mainly use it.

The blade is in the 7″ range by about 2″ wide.

If you’re into a bit of an outdoor lifestyle this could be the blade for you.  Would normally sell a 1084 version of this design for about $400 New Zealand Dollars.
